History and Aims

 

IDEA was formed in 1987 with the express intent to spread good practice within the global electronic component distribution industry.

The main aim of IDEA is knowledge sharing, statistiscs production, cooperation and collaboration among all the companies which are members of the various associations.

IDEA is a federation of component distribution trade associations from several major world countries.

The IDEA Council consists of the representatives from each Trade Association and  usually meets  twice a year to examine international standards and  develop plans and programs for the Global Distribution Industry.

 

IDEA hosts industry meetings to encourage cooperation and partnerships. It also cultivates skills and professionalism in emerging Mediterranean and Eastern European markets.
